PIFRA (Project to Improve Financial Reporting and Auditing) is a project started by the department of the Accountant General of Pakistan (AGP). The primary purpose of this project provides easiness in the process of payslip creation of Govt. employees as well as to improve the accounting and auditing system.
It was started in 1996 and implemented in three phases at federal, provincial, and district levels. However, the implementation in three steps was completed until 2014. But, to improve the performance, this project was shifted to the Department of Financial Accounting & Budgeting System (FABS).
However, it works well under the umbrella of AGP but with some deficiencies. The other reason to shift this project is that the FABS department is handling the accounting services. Therefore, Govt. of Pakistan decided to remove the deficiencies by transferring the responsibility to FABS.
For the implementation of PIFRA, Government spends about 5333 million rupees. This cost includes the purchase of software and hardware to make the system online. Also, it consists of the cost of training to employees for operating the system.
What is PIFRA DDO Monthly Expenditure?
DDO is an abbreviation of the Drawing & Disbursing Officer. Pifra enables the millions of employees from every department to get their salary slips online without visiting the office.
The expenditure includes all the expenses that any employee can get along with the basic salary. It involves traveling allowances, medical allowances, rent allowances, educational allowances, etc.
How PIFRA DDO works?
The DDO provides a code comprises of six digits to Govt. employees for the creation of payslip. Unique code is assigned to every DDO based on the sector/department.
The code provides to employees comprises of two alphabet characters and four numeric digits.
The alphabet characters in the code representation the circle of DDO, while the numeric code is the employee number.
The code assigned to DDO’s let them sign in the system and make the budget based on different expenses and events that occur in the previous year.
It helps the DDOs to provide a better estimate for expense in the coming month or year and eliminates the risk of funds shortage.
How To Get The Details Of Expenditure
It is easy for every employee to get the detail of their expense/allowances by following the simple steps. But for this purpose, you must have the details of the following codes.
The government of Pakistan issues a unique code to every department based on the province or region. It helps to find the DDO. For example, an employee of Punjab Govt. you have to enter “P” before the six-digit code.

DDO And Employee Code:
After the Government code, you have to provide the DDO and Employee code. As we mentioned earlier, this code comprises of six digits and information of this code is not available publically. Only the employee can have information about his code.

How to get register On PIFRA?
It is easy for government employees to get registered on PIFRA to get access to an online slip creation facility.
For this purpose, you have to fill the registration form, but before that, collect the following information. This information is required to complete the registration process.
- Full Name
- CNIC Number
- Cell/Personal Number
- Employee Number
- Province Name
- Date of Birth
- Email Address
- Government Level Scale
- Government Code

- Got to the official website of PIFRA or FABS from the following links pifra.gov.pk or http://www.fabs.gov.pk. Both links take you to the same page.
- Go to the services tab in the menu
- Select online salary slip/pension slip in the menu
- Here you have to provide information that we discussed above. After providing the data, the registration button appears on the page.
- Click on the registration button.
- Enter and re-enter the email address to complete the process.
- Hit the submit button to complete the process.
Confirm The Registration
If you want to confirm that either you register successfully or not, you can repeat the process. You can receive the message upon hitting the submit button that you are already registered.
Benefits of PIFRA DDO Budget
Besides the benefit of getting access to online slip creation, government employees can get a lot of benefits from this service. Let’s take a brief look at them.
The government of Pakistan offers traveling allowance for employees if they are traveling for official matters within the country. This service enables the employees to apply for the budget and avail of the allowance.
Home Rent Allowance
The government of Pakistan also provides home rent allowance to employees who don’t have their own home. Employees can get apply for the home rent allowance by using the services of PIFRA. It enables them to claim the rent allowance at the end of every year.
PIFRA allows the employees to get the benefit of medical allowance in case an employee or family member of the employee gets ill.
Usually, every department has its hospital. Still, if an employee wants to do a checkup from any other hospital, he/she can apply for the medical allowance. This allowance comprises of Rs. 1250 per month.
The government also offers a special allowance to its employees in case of need money to pay any expense. Employees can apply for the special allowance through this service.
